Brewery: Amundsen Bryggeri
Can I start off by saying that this has to have one of the best beer names I’ve ever seen. If you’re going to have a beer for a Halloween tasting then what better to drink then Apocalyptic Thunder Juice. Amazing. This is second Amundsen beer we hae showcased in the Beer Club, and as the first one was rather tasty I hoped this one would continue the trend and thankfully it did.
The can design again from Amundsen is beautiful and striking. I love the style they have. The beer though was very light golden, with a slight haze and a fair amount of carbonation The head didn’t hold however. Big herbal hops came through on the nose, along with a slightly salty aroma and citrus peel. When tasted, it had a lovely round mouth feel. Peach, lemon and grass were all identified to give a very fulfilling punch. The fruity sweetness complimented the bitter hops nicely. The aftertaste wasn’t overly bitter, leaving the mouth with a sweet grass sensation that was very pleasant.
I really liked this NEIPA. It wasn’t as big as some I’ve tried but it’s really well crafted and enjoyable with every sip. In the beer tasting we tried 3 different IPAs and this was the hands down winner with about 85% of the vote. I would highly recommend you try this is you happen to find it somewhere and enjoy the thunder juice for yourself.
