I love holding beer tastings, but it must be said I do love slipping in a curveball here or there. In the last few years we have had whiskey, rum and even blue glitter wine in the beer tastings, but I’ve never had a liqueur. When I found the Xanté were releasing a special edition with pumpkin spice, I knew I had to grab a few bottles and use it in the Halloween tasting to end the night.
I’m not going to go into great detail about this, but the cinnamon and nutmeg from the pumpkin spice paired really well with the pear. It was thick and very sticky but that was to be expected. I think this is a bit too sweet personally, but it would probably work quite nicely as a component in an autumnal cocktail. It was definitely an unexpected way to end the tasting!
