Tankbusters is a contract brewery located in Zabrze, southern Poland. Their name refers to the fact that they “battle with brewing equipment and fermentation tanks daily” in the process of brewing. This has been made with pineapple, lemon, coconut, banana and honey. To be honest, Tankbusters doesn’t seem to be that forthcoming with information about their brewery or beers, so information was rather limited. Instead, we will let the beer speak for itself but quite frankly, this was amazing.
This had a gorgeous pale yellow hazy colour topped with a superb honeycomb like head. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a head like it before, as it almost looked like a beehive! The aroma was beautiful, with a massive honey note backed up with freshly juiced pineapple and coconut. Extremely juicy pineapple met the tastebuds first, with banana and coconut following fast. The honey gave the beer extra body and backed up the big fruit notes with extra sweetness. The tiny bubbles that formed the carbonation helped the elevate the flavours, helping the fruit to linger on the tongue long after swallowing.
This was absolutely amazing and the closest I think I’ve come to drinking alcoholic pineapple juice. I was a bit scared that the size of the can would be too much but after sampling it I could easily have a few of these on my own. I’m sure some sour beer purists out there would moan at the lack of acidity, but I just simply adored this, and I wish I had bought a few cans extra for myself. Just excellence in a can!
