Dugges Bryggeri was founded in 2005 by Mikael “Dugge” Engström. The brewery originally started in Mölndal (near Gothenburg) but later moved to larger facilities in Landvetter. Over time, it has grown into one of Sweden’s most well-known craft breweries. They opened their Pils bar in 2021 but unfortunately had to close it at the end of 2024. This was released at the start of November 2025 and contains cherry and cacao. It has a sister beer called Mon Chili, which is a brandy barrel aged stout with chili. I’m a massive fan of chocolate and cherry, so I hoped that this was going to be amazing, and I’m happy to say that it was!

This was deep dark brown with a red hue on the rim and virtually no head. The body was extremely thick and clung to the inside of the glass when swirled. The aroma was basically like smelling a cherry liqueur praline, with a hint of coffee thrown in for good measure. The big sweet cherry notes came through strongly in the taste, with the espresso notes in the background creeping in slowly after swallowing. The alcohol could not be avoided, with the heat lighting up the chest after each sip, but it never felt boozy, with the heavy body helping the alcohol somewhat. The red fruit came through in the aftertaste, with a rich dark chocolate note leaving the mouth dry but satisfied.

Rich, fulfilling and delicious, this was a massive stout that lit up the senses as the cherry notes worked wonderfully with the deep chocolate and coffee. This is an excellent sipping stout to enjoy next to the fire on a cold winter night due to the high alcohol, but it always felt balanced. this was quite simply delicious!
