Based on a farm in Mullsjö, this small craft brewery has Magnus Tjäder as its brewmaster. It was founded by two entrepreneurs who originally ran a chocolate shop in central Jönköping, which later expanded into a bakery, café, and lunch restaurant. They decided to brew their own beer and serve house-made sausages and smoked meats at their restaurant. When the restaurant eventually closed, they chose to focus entirely on brewing, moving the operation to a dedicated brewery facility. This is made with 16% strawberry.
This has a dull orange colour with a thin white head that slowly disappeared. The body was rather thick and looked creamy as it was swirled in the glass. The fresh fruity notes alluded to a strawberry cream cake, along with a hint of redcurrant. The unripe strawberry note hit the palate first and, followed with a sponge cake note that slowly grew in the aftertaste. It tasted liked the strawberry stalk has been added to the brew as well, giving a bitter grassy note in the background. Lingonberry and blackcurrant leaves were also noted in the taste. The carbonation was medium, with the fruity acidic notes lingering on the tongue for a fair to short time after swallowing.
This was a fun sour that had a lot going on for being just 4.2%. The strawberry felt fresh and the cake like component added an extra dimension. If you like your fruit sours more on the acidic side, this would be a great choice for you. I really enjoyed this, and I was very happy to have it in the tasting.
