This double dry hopped West Coast IPA shares the same base as their Scandinavian West Coast IPA, but has been produced using more oats in the grain bill and with 60% more hops. This has been hopped with Galaxy, Citra and Mosaic. Stigbergets are well known for their amazing range of IPAs, so of course I had to have at least one in the tasting. I’m glad to report that this is another winner!
This had an extremely hazy orange juice hue with a thin head that clung to the side of the glass. The aroma had massive fruit notes, with papaya, mango, grapefruit, tangerine and resin all bursting from the glass. The thick, chewy body coated the palate, with a high carbonation dancing on the tongue. The taste was a delightful mix of the aroma, with the orange peel, mango, lemon and pine all holding their own. The aftertaste was long-lasting and bitter, and left a delightful, juicy note on the back of the tongue.
This was a lovely IPA, which blends characteristics of both a West Coast IPA and NEIPA. If you like big beers, this would be perfect for you, as it’s bold and really packs a punch. Excellent.
